I can't believe this class is over. It has been a pleasure and I feel that I have learned a lot. As I said when I started, Diane and Sarah are great teachers. They have made learning Web 2.0 fun and interesting and I would highly recommend them.

After viewing many videos, I decided this was the one that interested me the most.

I have been a Michael Feldman fan for a very long time. I was disappointed when his NPR Saturday morning show was taken off. I was happy to find the podcast! I hope you enjoy these.

Week 8 - Social Networking Sites

I think the librarians could use Facebook as a way to connect with faculty and students in relation to class information and projects. I prefer Facebook over MySpace. It seems MySpace is more for teens and young adults to use as a meeting place. I usually look at it to check out my daughters site. I read that some employers and colleges access Facebook and MySpace to check on applicants. This could be a problem if someone is careless about what they put out there in cyberspace although their sites could be made private.

Week 7 - Wikis
Week 7 was another interesting and informative week. We learned all about the world of wikis. A wiki is a website that allows certain groups to add information and also edit the information that is there. It can be password protected to help assure that the sources are reliable. One of our assignments was to contribute to a sample GSU Library FAQ wiki, which in my opinion, is a keeper, and would be beneficial to the GSU community. Some other library wiki uses could be Friends of the Library, Reference/Circulation desk information, and a General Library Staff wiki which would allow staff to post suggestions, concerns, or information to each other.

Week 6 Tagging, Del.icio.us & Technorati

This was another fun week. I was unable to get online from home Friday evening so this blog entry and my discussion post is a little late. Tagging is a useful way to locate websites of interest without having to search the internet, so it saves time. I enjoyed learning about del.icio.us and technorati. I think the instructions for using these tools provided by Diane and Sarah were very helpful and easy to follow.

Week 5 has been an interesting and fun week.

I created my own search engine using Rollyo. My topic of interest is container gardening. I found many interesting sites and I am still adding to my searchroll.

I found the Library Thing very useful. I have cataloged some of the books I have recently read. There are more to come. http://www.librarything.com/catalog/cmachura

Using the online image generator was fun. With Easter around the corner, I decided to do some early Easter egg decorating.

Week 4 RSS Feeds

I can't believe it is already the fourth week. Blog searching was easy, fun, and interesting. The difficult part was choosing which three to post on the discussion board (there were so many).
An advantage of RSS over bookmarking is that you save a lot of time by using the RSS reader to find out what's new instead of visiting each of your favorite blogs.

Week 3

I plan on using flickr for personal photos because it would be a great way to organize them and send them to friends and family. The flickr tool I like is Prntr Killr. I would love to do a calendar using pets of family and friends.
I still haven't had much time to "fancy up" my blog. I promise it will improve as time goes by.

First Entry

Hi,

This is my first blog entry. I have to admit it is somewhat confusing. I will be working on the details as time goes by. I did do a blog search and found one that interested me. It is on Chicago History.
